KASHIRAM DANGI is a journalist from west Nepal. Active in national mainstream journalism for the past 2 decades long, he is Rolpa Correspondent / Sub Editor of Kantipur Daily. He has reported on many issues including the Maoist armed conflict and development that started from Rolpa on February 1, 2052. He is the founding chairman of Nepali Journalist Federation (FNJ) ROLPA. He is also the founding editor of Rolpa's first magazine, Rolpa Awaaj Fortnightly newspaper. He was born in Ward No. 2 Hangjawang (currently Triveni-5) village of Jugaar of Western Rolpa. It happened on the 12th of Fagun 2037 BS (23 February 1981) on the day of Education Day. His late parents are Nawarati Dangi and Jhupesh Dangi Kshattri.
While he was studying at the secondary level, he wrote for the Naya Yugbodh Daily, Gaughar weekly and Savyasanchi weekly newspapers published from Dang district. From 2053/54, he did volunteer reporting as a correspondent for some time for those newspapers. At that time, he focused on politics as well as local issues and did rural journalism. Before that, he was probably involved in the publication of Rolpa's first magazine Nava Prabhat monthly. He was the editor of that newspaper when he was studying at Jan Jagriti Secondary School (now Higher Secondary School) at Jugar in Western Rolpa. Together with about half a dozen students including him, the magazine was published around 2053/54 BS. The magazine included news as well as literary materials. Newspapers were published by hand writing and pasting them on the wall of school.
After coming to Rolpa headquarters Liwang to do journalism from the village, he became the editor of Rolpa Awaaj, the first newspaper of Rolpa. The newspaper registered in Rolpa district administration office was published for the first time on November 22, 2063 BS. When the magazine was published, about a dozen of his friends were associated with Sunchahari Prakashan Pvt. Dangi also worked as a news coordinator/editor in Chief for Community Radio Rolpa (FM 93.8 Mhz), which was established by his group for the first time in Rolpa. He started reporting in Kantipur Daily as Rolpa Correspondent from 2057 BS. Due to his effective reporting on the armed conflict, Kantipur Publications honored him with the Best Out Standing Award for the year of 2058 BS, a year after his involvement. In addition to that, he has also received other important awards and honors in the field of journalism.
He has consistently done investigative and in-depth reporting on conflict, development, human rights, transitional justice, social studies, politics and inclusiveness (tribes, minorities, backwardness, victims, etc.). He also has a deep interest in understanding and reporting on the above-mentioned topics. He has been involved in mainstream journalism while staying in Rolpa. He is also involved in literary creation. He has been known as K Trasit, KR Dangi and Chang Chirag in literary creations. Interested in writing long articles and literary works, he likes to use his pen to write poems, essays, travel memoirs, etc. Studying and meeting people are his other interests. Traveling is more of his interest. He holds a bachelor's degree in humanities and sociology from Tribhuvan University and a master's degree in media technology (MMT) from Purvanchal University. He had prepared a research paper on the subject of news presentation in Rolpa's weekly newspaper for the study of that level. He is also a graduate from Nepal Press Institute with a degree in journalism under the distance education program. –
